Requirements

  • Qualified to HND/HNC level as a minimum 
  • 5-years post-graduate experience is preferred but not essential  
  • Working knowledge of various forms of Contract particularly NEC(3) and NEC(4) 
  • IT skills – Excel essential, CEMAR/COINS preferred 
  • A strong desire to learn and develop professional skills 
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills 
  • A pragmatic approach to problem solving 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, to motivate and influence at all levels 
  • The confidence to contribute, advise and challenge the status quo 
  • The ability to work effectively under pressure to tight deadlines 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

Pre-Contract 

  • Initial point of contact for commercial review from tenders arising in the Group 
  • Ensures that Group Governance requirements are maintained 
  • Monthly meeting with MD & Ops Director to understand forthcoming opportunities 
  • Negotiation and Settlement of commercial issues following tender submission 
  • Commercial input to larger tender opportunities as and when necessary, including compiling blue and white collar rates, overheads and fees 

Post-Contract 

  • Oversees commercial team in terms of day-to-day responsibilities  
  • Oversees commercial issues, key risks, and projects as appropriate 
  • Ensures Group Commercial Procedures are adhered to 
  • First point of contact for commercial queries from the wider team 
  • Ensures that sub-contracts are in place as required with appropriate T&C’s flowed down 
  • Liaises with the Estimating and Delivery teams to ensure full understanding of allowances, risks, inclusions, exclusions 
  • Compile Final Accounts for completed projects 
  • Ensure compliance with any contractual obligations 
  • Ensures that all projects are adequately staffed commercially and liaises with the MD / Ops Director as appropriate 
  • Ensure recovery and entitlement is maximised through the contractual routes including Compensation Events, Variations 
  • Flags up potential insurance issues to Group Commercial Director  

Accounts Process 

  • Ensures team accurately comply with group procedure and best practice whilst compiling company trading information 
  • Provides Commercial Manager with cash and revenue forecasts as required 
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial position/cost to complete on contracts 
  • Compile CVR’s for critical, high value and high-risk projects 
  • Liaise with cost collation team as appropriate 
  • Chases Cash, Aged Debt, WIP and retentions as appropriate
