Shepley Engineers Voted Best in Sector for Safety

Shepley Engineers have beaten international competition to win the RoSPA Engineering Services Sector Award, following 30 consecutive years of exceptional safety performance.

2026 marks the 70th anniversary of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Awards, which has now grown into the biggest and most prestigious health and safety awards programme in the world.

RoSPA sector awards were introduced in 1993, to be presented annually for the most outstanding performance in health and safety by an organisation within a particular sector, recognising organisations demonstrating the highest standards of occupational health, safety, and accident prevention within specific industries.

The 2026 awards attracted 2,000 different entries from nearly 60 countries, all judged by a panel of leading experts who review overarching management systems, control measures, accident records, and enforcement history to grade businesses safety culture and compliance level.

Following the first RoSPA Gold Award in 1996, Shepley Engineers have won 30 consecutive awards and the Shepley Group have amassed 69 Gold Awards. In that time, our teams have worked on some of the most highly-regulated and demanding projects in the country, demonstrating the professionalism and ethics in every pillar of our workforce.

Pete Sempie, Head of Health and Safety, commented;

“These awards collectively represent a significant achievement and are a testament to the professionalism, commitment and shared values of our entire workforce.

They reflect not just compliance with legislation, but the safe and responsible delivery of projects day in, day out, often in challenging and high-risk environments. It demonstrates that health and safety is an integral part of how we plan, manage and deliver our work.

“Most importantly, these awards belong to everyone across the organisation — from those planning and supervising work to those delivering it safely on site every day, ensuring that every project is delivered safely and responsibly”

The RoSPA Awards are sponsored by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (NEBOSH), a leading global organisation, which provides internationally-recognised health, safety and environmental qualifications that raise the competence of safety and environmental professionals as well as individuals at all levels in the workplace.
