Nuclear Decommissioning Solutions (NDS) — the joint venture between Shepley Engineers, Cavendish Nuclear and Altrad Support Services — has been awarded the DNWP Lot 3 contract at Sellafield.

The newly established Joint Venture will be known as Nuclear Decommissioning Solutions (NDS) and will work with other organisations in the framework to support high hazard risk reduction programmes on the Sellafield site, through the Decommissioning & Nuclear Waste Partnership (DNWP).
DNWP will support activities related to retrieving waste materials from the site’s oldest facilities as well as treating and storing those materials and decommissioning redundant assets. DNWP will replace and build upon the capabilities successfully delivered through the existing Design Services Alliance (DSA) and Decommissioning Delivery Partnership (DDP) ahead of their expiry.
This award marks a significant milestone in our continued support of Sellafield Ltd’s decommissioning mission. DNWP Lot 3 builds on the strong foundations laid under DDP Lot 3, where for the past 10 years our teams have been delivering critical work in support of the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo (MSSS).
The framework agreement will be in place for an initial period of nine years with an option for a further six years, through to 2040 and will support activities relating to the retrieval of waste materials from the site’s oldest facilities, the treating and storing of those materials and to the decommissioning of redundant assets.
This contract provides long-term opportunity and continuity of work across the Shepley Group. West Cumberland Engineering will play a key role in supporting the programme with fabrication, and PPS Electrical will lead on all CE&I delivery. It’s a fantastic opportunity to build on our collective strengths and continue supporting Sellafield Ltd’s long-term decommissioning mission.

Gavin Jakubowski, Shepley Group Managing Director commented;
“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Sellafield through the DNWP Lot 3 framework. This award builds on the collaborative success of DDP Lot 3 and reflects our shared commitment to safe, efficient delivery. Just as importantly, it enables us to give something back—creating lasting social value and supporting the communities we serve.”
