Meet Elisia Houghton, a Welder for West Cumberland Engineering. Learn more about what drove her to an apprenticeship, and what aspirations she has for her future career.
When did you join West Cumberland Engineering?
I joined in September 2022
What made you choose an apprenticeship?
I always thought about going in to welding. I then went did it at Lakes College, which helped me to gain my Level 3 apprenticeship at West Cumberland Engineering
What does a typical day in your job involve?
My day usually consists of morning briefings, safety talks, prepping items and welding.
What are your career aspirations?
Be the best I can be and push myself for harder challenges
How have you progressed since joining West Cumberland Engineering?
I have progressed in my welds and in gaining more confidence in myself
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship, has anything surprised you?
The amount of different welds!
