Shepley Group companies to join the Programme and Project Partners at Sellafield to help deliver first-of-a-kind long-term frameworks

Two Shepley Group companies join PPP at Sellafield to help deliver major projects on ground-breaking first-of-their-kind frameworks.

Shepley Group companies Shepley Engineers and PPS Electrical will join Process Pipework Services Ulverston and Alpha Engineering in entering PPP, after partnering with the Key Delivery Partners (KDPs) through the tender process, which was supported by the SME Matchmaker Service.

The four companies will work on the HVAC, Mechanical & Pipework and Electrical & Instrumentation Frameworks on PPP, each working alongside partnering KDPs Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick, EJ Parker, NG Bailey and Altrad Babcock. The frameworks have a combined potential value of £51 million within the first five years.

The benefits of these long-term frameworks and collaboration with the KDP’s will safeguard jobs, bringing opportunities for new investment and creating employment opportunities for apprentices/trainees, returners to the workforce and the long-term unemployed in line with the PPP ‘Critical Success Factors’.

PPP continues to work with key supply chain partners to agree Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that will benefit both the projects and the local community, with social impact commitments embedded into each framework. From this, the local supply chain is undertaking employer-supported volunteering, where employees volunteer their time to support local initiatives in their communities. This will support the KDPs’ and PPP’s Social Impact goals.

The benefits mentioned go hand in hand with the Shepley Group’s commitment to delivering long term social impact for our region. Both Group companies are headquartered in Whitehaven, and have a large presence in West Cumbria. This year, Shepley Engineers are celebrating their 75th anniversary, and are Sellafield’s longest-serving continuous contractor – they have been at the forefront of Cumbrian engineering for many years now and are delighted to continue supporting the local area.

Gavin Jakubowski, Managing Director of Shepley Group, said of the announcement: “Shepley Engineers and PPS Electrical are incredibly excited and extremely proud to have signed multiple long-term framework agreements for CE&I, Mechanical and HVAC scope in collaboration with the KDP partners to support their delivery of the Sellafield PPP Programme.

“The opportunity builds on our decades of heritage at the site and through our commitment to engineering excellence and right first-time ethos, we look forward to supporting the continued successful delivery of the decommissioning programme, whilst also contributing to the local economy and increasing employment opportunities in the West Cumbrian area.”
