Roof Replacement – Asset Care

This project required Shepley Engineers to complete an overroof on a building that had been degrading over time, and due to the nature of the facility, it had to be repaired before the degradation caused any serious issues.

The roof installed was Sika Decothane Ultra 20 as this was the required specification. This is one of the many brands that we are approved installers of, also including Kalzip, Kingspan and EuroClad. As this building was near the perimeter of the Sellafield site, our engineers needed to ensure that the scaffold didn’t allow a point to climb and enter the Site. Thankfully, we mitigated this risk and the scaffolding was deemed to be security safe.

KEY CHALLENGES:

As with any roofing project, the weather can have a significant impact. The team had to allow for the notorious Cumbrian weather and planned one week ahead, with daily reviews each morning to prepare for the good weather spells.

During the inclement weather, the team used this time to down-size redundant roofing materials and arrange under cover bagging, palletizing it ready for the waste route.

CLIENT’S COMMENTS:

Thanks for your help in progressing this work during the long spell of bad weather. If you could also pass my thanks to all the operatives, who have undertaken this work when out in all weathers.

It’s been undertaken in a safe and controlled manner and the site managed very well.
