Roof Replacement

The purpose of the refurbishment is to address the issue of standing water along the west elevation and also to address water ingress issues around the redundant roof light plinths.

This project required us to clean and make-good the existing roof from water build-up, debris and other hazards, and install Sika Decothane Ultra 25 year roofing. In the make-good phase, we were required to complete an initial removal of water and surface lying dust, and a subsequent deep clean to ensure there was no contamination on or around the area.

As with any roofing project, the weather can play a significant impact. The team had to allow for the notorious Cumbrian weather and tailored the project duration to allow for this, rather than being stung with a surprise as and when the rain comes.

As a result and acknowledgement of our hard work, Sellafield Ltd awarded us subsequent work on projects including walkways, guttering, cladding and roof lighting, owing to Shepley Engineers’ right first time attitude and approach.

There was a limit on storage available for the team on this project, which meant we had to plan ahead what was required with extreme accuracy. The team would accept deliveries each week and constantly adjust the quantities based on workload and expected requirements.
