We held our first Employer End-Point Assessment (EPA) workshop at Lakes College this week, bringing together more than 35 The Shepley Group apprentices for an insightful and productive session.
The day kicked off with an introduction from Ryan Christie, project manager at Shepley, followed by our guest speakers Tina and Stewart from Engepa to explain the EPA process for welding and fabrication apprenticeships. John Edmundson also shared key requirements for the pipe welding EPA.
Our apprentices then split into groups, with each team guided by staff members specialising in their apprenticeship standards. Graham Ball led the mechanical standards group, while John Wilson and Steve Birch supported the metal fabricators and welders alongside Dave Norman from Shepley.
The session wrapped up with a valuable Q&A session where apprentices had the unique opportunity to connect directly with their employer, training provider and an EPA organisation, addressing any questions or concerns in one go.
This workshop was a fantastic chance for everyone — from new starters to those nearing their EPA — to better understand the responsibilities of all parties involved in the apprenticeship journey.
